What the coincidences in your life could really mean.

I’m working on a deadline and need some pallets.  Now. Stat.

I was hoping to score some at a garage sale, thrift store, flea market – the usual places you might look. I wasn’t having any luck.

I’m getting ready to set up my booth/store space and need the pallets so my husband can finish off a bookshelf  I painted.

Like this….

Remove flimsy backing and use pallet boards.
Remove flimsy backing and use pallet boards.

I tried the internet. Perhaps I could hunt them down on Craigslist. No luck. I even Googled pallet and found some places that sell them…for lots of money I might add.

I requested a catalog and figured that maybe I would just need to break down and purchase a few to get this project done.

But God had other plans. “You need pallets”? he said….”I’ve got pallets”.

The next morning I headed out around 10am to do some errands. I drove around the block and sitting there in front of someone’s house next to their garbage can were two pallets in beautiful condition.

(insert screeching brake noises here)

I stopped my car, opened the hatch and shoved the two pallets inside.

As I unloaded them from my car I half expected to see Jesus standing there with a big thumbs up, “Hey, you said you needed pallets, will these work?”.

Thanks God, I needed these.
Thanks God, I needed these.

You may call it coincidence.

That’s how most people refer to these types of experiences and situations.

Great news for your midweek slump – the little “coincidences” you experience are not haphazard; they are for you direct from a loving God.

You may not believe that, and that’s fine.  God will continue to drop little coincidences into your life to remind you of how much He loves you and cares about every detail of your life.

I think we have a hard time believing that God is behind those coincidences because at the root we doubt God’s goodness and His love for us.

We think He’s too busy to care about the little things.

More good news….the very reason we think God doesn’t have time for us (because He’s too big) is the very reason He is able.

Next time a coincidence inserts itself into your day….

Don’t try to explain it away.
Don’t just brush it off as weird.

It’s a reminder of how much God loves you and cares about the smallest details of your life.

I’d love to hear some of your “coincidences”.

Till the next time,
Julie

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

  3. My husband always says there’s no such thing as coincidences.. Here’s my story 🙂 we purchased our first actual home last year and money was tight because our daughter also has a brachial plexus birth injury. Well as new home owners of a previously owned home you sit and think and dream on how to make the home yours. My husband and I where sitting on the back porch talking about how we need to level the land in our back yard (we live in southwest Louisiana so our yard hold a lot of water when it rains). We discussed how expensive getting truck loads of dirt costs and knew it had to wait while we save up. He left that night to go to work he works offshore so when he leaves he’s gone for 14 days at a time. So no one else was told about our conversation about the dirt. Well the next morning the front door bell rings. Odd being we had just moved in that weekend and the house had been empty for years so who could be at my door is what I thought. Little did I know God was working his magic. There was a man from the department of transportation & developement wanting to speak to my dad. I said “sir I’m the homeowner can I help you?” He apologize and stated that “there used to have a guy that lived in our house who wanted dirt and was bringing it to him but since your the new home owner would you like the dirt it’s free and I have about 12 truck loads.” I was in amazement at how God works I was shaking and almost in tears when I told him yes we would love the dirt! He brought enough dirt for our yard and helped 4 of our neighbors with dirt for their yards! I have several other stories that has proven there is no such thing as coincidences 🙂 Thank you for sharing your story and sharing the love of God 🙂

    1. Oh my gosh Kimberly I love this story. I may have to share this with other folks as well. Love it! Thanks for taking the time to read my post and to share your story. Happy…it’s almost Friday!!

  4. Hi Julie, Loved your testimony! My husband repairs and builds pallets. Where are you located and do you need the boards and/or a complete pallet? He always has scrap boards and pallets…. Please email me at michelle.archer11@gmail.com if you would like. We have also gone around town and looked for pallets before he started the business he is in now. God bless you in your journey with pallets!

    1. Thanks for commenting Michelle! I will drop you an e-mail so we can connect.

  5. Christina says:

I love this! My sister and I were trying to get her lawn mower started and after minutes, stressful, irritating minutes, sweating and frustrated we both looked up and said, “Come on God, please start this lawn mower!” Right after that, no joke, we looked up to see a dove land on the telephone wire and we tried one more time to get it started and what do you know, it STARTED! We were so overwhelmed we laughed and cried at the same time! We knew even in that moment He loved us enough to answer our silly lawn mower prayer!
Like you said, “It’s a reminder of how much God loves you that He would have time to be in the details of your life.”

    1. Thanks for sharing your story Christina. That sounds just like something me and my sisters would have done. (no brothers so we always cut the grass) I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment and share. Have a good one.

  6. I LOVE this! I just had this happen to me a couple of days ago, and wrote a post about it. I was feeling worthless and God showed me my true value in His eyes by giving me a house plant that I have wanted and been unable to find for over a year. I nearly broke down and cried right there at the grocery store when I saw it thanking Him!

    1. Hey girl – just left a comment on your similar post! Thanks for reading mine and taking time out of your day. Keep on letting the Father love on you!!!

Hi Julie. Came to your blog from the Air1 Facebook page. I too have just opened a “booth” at an antique/vintage/gift shop (mine is actually three shelves right now!) I’m hoping to make a little money on the items I make and items I find to re-sell. I have been unemployed since last April, however, I am my mother’s (89!) main caregiver, so I do have a small income. I enjoyed your blog and will remember to come back often to see what you’re up to!

    1. yeah for you Cynthia! That’s awesome. It’s exciting and a little scary at the same time getting ready for this opening! But…God keeps sending little reminders that I’m right where I should be. Thanks for reading my post and taking the time to comment. Blessings on your booth space!!!! Have a good one.

This is an awesome reminder! Thank you! I, too, see every “coincidence” as a “God thing,” and I find myself saying a quick “thank you, Lord” when things like that happen! I love it! =)

  9. The Thinker says:

Yes. That makes so much sense. God makes sure you have pallets, but can’t take the time to direct anyone to save the person from the burning house, or direct the motorist to slow down avoiding a deadly accident, or direct a scientist to discover a cure for cancer, or direct politicians to peace. But he has an abundance of time to direct you to two pallets that you can get anytime if you go to a more industrialized area of your town.

    Seems legit.

    1. Good morning! Thanks for reading my post and taking the time to leave a comment.
Yes, actually, God does have an abundance of time for me. I don’t understand it and it seems crazy but that’s what makes Him God. With regard to God not having the time to help in those situations you mentioned – I’d be willing to bet that there are many more millions where He did. We tend to focus on the negative we don’t understand. Part of the reason for my blog is to give folks a place to share what God has done for them. (see Stories under a tab on my menu bar)
It really comes down to knowing God’s character and how much He loves you. He will always make good from the crap in this world. Unfortunately we trivialize God. Our warped view of God is to make Him into some self-help Genie. We re-create Him in our minds as our God-on-Demand – someone who’s there when we need Him and stays out of the way the rest of the time.
I don’t claim to understand it all – If I did I guess that would make me God.
I hope you know how much God loves you and longs for you to know Him!
Awesome book I read once called “God As He Longs for you to see Him” by Chip Ingram.
      Have a super Friday.

  10. Rhonda Foust says:

I have two instances that happened to me recently that I give credit to a “God moment.” He was silent yet he was shouting!

    1. Hi Rhonda – thanks for taking the time to read and leave a comment. Have a super…it’s almost Friday!!

  11. Feed stores. Ones that sell hay for horses. Mine beg us to take them away.

    1. Not around too many of those so I didn’t even think of that. Thanks for the tip!!

  12. Thanks for sharing! I found your post on air1 as well. I have moments like these and know it’s God as well. When I share them with my husband, he’s learned not to question them. It started with shoe prayers when I couldn’t find our girls shoes on Sunday morning and has escalated to every day things. It has taught me to have a child like faith and that God is not too busy to bother himself with the small things. I still tell our girls (who are teens and older) to pray when they can’t find things and of course they give me a blank stare and I am the one who prays and usually has a thought from God and go right to the missing item.

    1. Hi Debra! Thanks for your wonderful comments. I appreciate you taking the time to read my post. Have a great weekend.

  13. Our God is in the numbers business. He specializes in the “impossible” and the “improbable”.

My husband and I feel we have been called by God to adopt again. Our home study is complete and we have an adoption lawyer (so everything is legal and ready). However, we do NOT have a birthmom or baby in mind, and we do not have an adoption agency working for us because we want to give God ALL the glory in this process. Our God does not need the “odds in his favor”. He is not confined by the “improbable”. So, we are just praying and watching. He can do ALL things, and with Him, nothing is impossible.

I realize that a lot of people are going to think that we are CRAZY, but testimonies like yours remind us that God is in control – of the little things, of the big things, and of the impossible things!

    1. Hi Judy – you’ll have to keep me posted on the adoption process. I’d love to hear how God works out those details. Thanks for sharing!

      1. I received a phone call on Friday night – asking if my husband and I would like to adopt TWINS in September! To God be all the glory!

        1. Are you kidding me? That is awesome. I’d love to share your whole story as an actual blog post. Perhaps after everything is settled, later this fall. Let’s keep in touch. Praying for you guys!

  14. Julie,
What a wonderful response you gave to the thinker…. I too found your blog from air 1. I honestly can not remember how I found the air 1 station, but it had changed my life. Oh wait it just came to me, I was searching for Natalie Grant concerts in December and something came up with Air 1. Since then I have been hooked!
    one of my stories:
I have a dear friend, Annie, that is battling cancer. I was reading a prayer that a friend put on fb to give her strength and then went to my Air 1 app so I could read the verse for the day. As I began to read 1 Cor. 15:58 the song Overcomer, by Mandisa started playing in the back ground. GOD was speaking to me loud and clear.
“So, my dear brothers and sisters be doing and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

You might be down for the moment feeling like it’s hopeless that’s when He reminds you…. You’re an overcomer!

I told Annie that this is her theme song. The next day I took her the CD and food to her family. We taught middle school together, and she is a wonderful teacher!
For all who read this, please say a prayer for Annie to call on the Lord to give her strength.

    GOD bless,

    Jessica

    1. Thanks for your comments Jessica! Love hearing your story about your friend and God’s encouragement to her.

  15. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if
you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some
experience with something like this. Please let me know if you
run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look
    forward to your new updates.

    1. Hi Kerri – I wish I could help – I’m not that computer/blog savvy. But I will ask a friend who helps me a lot.
Who is your blog through? WordPress?
