Costumes Halloween Holidays traditions Vintage Vintage Halloween

3 Halloween tips you’ll wish you started earlier.

Happy Monday friends.

With just a few days before Halloween I thought I’d do one last post about this holiday.

My kids are getting older (13 and 11) and they are just about done with Halloween…sniff, sniff.  Here are a few ideas that I wish I had known when my kids were toddlers.

1. Don’t worry about your decorations looking like Pinterest posts.

When my son was 3 he wanted just about every square inch of the house covered with hanging “boos” and handmade decorations. It looked a little cluttered but now I miss all of those handmade decorations. I managed to save only a few and framed them. Now I put those out every year and cry.

The few I kept from my son and daughter when they were in pre-school. Frame them to display each year.

2. Write down their costumes each year and their age…chances are you also took pictures.

You always think you’ll remember all the cute costumes they had each year….uh…after 40, not so much. I have a journal I keep close by and jot down their age and costume for the year. (I also do this with Birthday themes). Just a fun way to reminisce.

3. Keep all those little plastic Halloween do-dads and put them in a glass jar.

Easy storage for those cute cupcake toppers, Halloween rings and spiders they get at parties and trick-or-treating. Do you know how much vintage Halloween items go for now$$$!! Not to mention they are fun to look at and to decorate with. I have a jar of them on a shelf in my “batroom”.

Cupcake toppers, rings, plastic skeltons...keep them for a fun display that will one day look vintage!

Later this week….

A friend of mine shares her story about a terrifying doctor’s report.

What will Zack (our dog) be for Halloween?

How to handle fear when it creeps into your life.

Till the next time, remember you’re not alone!

    1. Hi Jeanne!! So good to hear from you. Congratulations on your marriage! I saw pictures of Gavin and I’m in denial. There is no way that child is that old!

Ya. He got old and so did I. 🙂 Halloween is so in hindsight now that I am putting up Christmas deco today. lol (Not doing Thanksgiving this year) Happy Halloween to you and your young ones. Look forward to your posts.

  3. I Love the idea of putting the rings, etc in a jar. I have a million antique mason jars just waiting to hold something. Guess one will now get its wish granted ;0)

    1. Hey girl! Thanks for reading and commenting. Another idea I’ve heard of that is so cute…take a mason jar and put it in the laundry room. the idea is to put things in there that you find in your kids pockets, jeans etc..when you go to do laundry! I wish I started this when my kids were little because I was always finding cars, dinosaurs, rocks….cute memory jar!
