When is Easter this year?
Did I miss it?
Did the polar vortex mess it up?
I typically love putting out my Easter and spring stuff but this year it feels so odd.
This L***O****N****G winter and bizarre polar vortex makes me feel like I’m not sure what season we’re in or what might be coming next!
Easter is about a month away….Spring is in two days…so I guess it’s ok to move forward.
My Easter mantle is pretty simple and cheap. I’m a visual person so seeing what other people have done always helps me get my creative juices going.
A few notes:
- The Easter tree (fancy for “the stick in pot”), began as a tradition when my kids were little. When they were toddlers we went for lots of walks. Each walk was a serious outing complete with snacks and a bucket in case we found anything.
Well, one year we found a really cool looking twig/branch that looked like a mini tree. We brought it home and stuck it in a pot and hung some store-bought Easter eggs on it. I really liked having a little nature brought indoors even if it was a dead twig.
So each year after that, during our spring walks, we would be on the look-out for Mommy’s new Easter stick.
- The Fuzzy Chicks – we discovered that dogs like to lick these and it really ruins their fuzz. When decorating be sure that Fido (or Zack in our case) can’t reach them.
- Glittery rabbit – a $3 find at Wal-mart a few years ago. By himself might look cheapy hanging someplace but included in a grouping, he adds some bling!
- Subway art – I’m so impressed and thankful to the talented folks who create all the different kinds of Subway art and then share them with us! I wanted to include a link to the wonderful sight where I found this Easter themed one that celebrates the real reason for Easter – JESUS!

Have fun putting together your Easter mantle. I hope this helps. And with regard to the weather – this was Easter in Indiana last year.
Till the next time,
